The Institute of Socio-Economic Research was founded in 1974 within the Catholic University. The main research activities carried out by the institute are in the areas of growth and development, poverty and inequality, and natural resources. Apart from research in these areas, the Institute provides educational services and capacity building. Recently, the IISEC has established a Centre for Energy Economics and Environmental Studies (C3ES), which provides specialized consulting services in energy economics, climate change and renewable energies.
